Workplace Windows Term 2 Visit

19th Feb 2026

Our P5-P7 pupils had a fantastic day yesterday visiting the Huhtamaki site in Belfast as part of our Term 2 Workplace Windows programme.  Pupils learned first-hand about the importance of PPE, sustainability and quality control, and saw how everyday products are created - from the process involved to the impressive machines and equipment used on site.

A very big thank you to Huhtamaki for welcoming us so warmly and providing a very tasty lunch for all our pupils and staff.  It was a brilliant experience that brought learning to life.

We're now back in the classroom, inspired and ready to begin designing our own sweet treat boxes to be sold at the upcoming PTA Car Treasure Hunt on Friday, 17th April.  Pupils will use everything they learned during the visit to guide their designs - thinking carefully about clear labelling and strong visual appeal.

It was wonderful to step into the real world of manufacturing and see the wide range of jobs and skills involved. Lots of pupils left thinking about future careers they might one day pursue in the manufacturing sector.
